About The Tammy Walker Cancer Center

The Tammy Walker Cancer Center is part of the Masonic Cancer Alliance, offering patients access to some of the latest clinical trials and research for cancer care. At Tammy Walker Cancer Center, patients are not alone in their battle against cancer. A team approach includes a variety of specialists and treatments as well as support services to help patients through every aspect of their journey.

Who Was Tammy Walker?

Tammy Walker, of Salina, died of lung cancer in 1973 at the young age of 11. The fifth child of the late Charlie Walker and Margie Walker, Tammy was a friendly, lively child who loved school and animals—especially her horse and her dog. The Walker family was pleased to honor Tammy’s memory with the lead gift for the construction of the Tammy Walker Cancer Center.

Walk. Run. Give.

The 8th annual Fe for a Cure 5K Race/Walk to benefit cancer patients at Tammy Walker Cancer Center will be held Saturday, September 16th.

About Fe For A Cure

Cancer affects us all. Even if you haven’t faced the disease, chances are you know someone – a loved one, friend or neighbor – who has.

Three community organizations along Santa Fe Avenue in the heart of Salina — Salina Regional Health Center (including Salina Regional Health Foundation, SRHC Service Auxiliary, and the Tammy Walker Cancer Center), Meridian Media, and North Salina Community Development — have joined forces to fight cancer and support area cancer patients and their families at the Tammy Walker Cancer Center. Fe for a Cure is a 5K Race/Walk on historic Santa Fe Avenue in downtown Salina and Oakdale Park, and an opportunity to rally behind local cancer patients and survivors. It’s also a chance to honor all those who have died from the disease.

Today, more people than ever are winning the battle against cancer thanks to early detection and new treatments available at the Tammy Walker Cancer Center.
